What to Wear and Bring
Sessions are conducted fully clothed (shoes, hair ties, most jewelry and pocket contents removed). Since Ortho-Bionomy® uses positioning to achieve improved function, alignment and healing, it is very helpful if your clothing allows free movement of your body. Therefore, it works out better if you wear clothes that are either loose-fitting or stretchy. Please, for the sake of Jim and his other clients, do not wear scents if possible, or difficult to remove make-up.
A full medical history is not necessary, but if you need help remembering details of your conditions that you will want to share with me, feel free to bring along notes. This is never required, but can sometimes be helpful.
What We'll Do
1) At your first session, we will first review why you've requested a session, so I can understand what you are looking for and hoping for. I will then give you some background information about my practice and my work, so you can have a better sense of how I might help, and what your role is in your well-being.
2) I will then have you sign a liability waiver (found on this website under "Client Forms").
3) Then we will discuss your particular situation in more detail.
For a new client, the intake portion usually takes 20-30 minutes.
4) If Ortho-Bionomy® is indicated we will then spend somewhere between 30 and 60 minutes on bodywork. Most often this work is conducted on a massage table, but sometimes I include some work with you moving, standing or sitting, always within the limits of what is comfortable and available for you.
If issues arise during the intake process that seem to lend themselves to Spiritual Direction, I will raise that option with you, and together we will decide how best to use the time during your session. It is usually not possible to include both Ortho-Bionomy and Spiritual Direction in the first session.
Please allow at least 1-1/2 hours for the first session if possible. Further sessions are usually finished in about an hour. Please let me know of pressing time constraints.
Current fees are $60 per session, regardless of the length of the session.
I am currently offering a 50% discount for the first session ($30), to allow those who aren't sure whether my work will be helpful to try it out at a very low expense. For greater savings, a package of 3 sessions can be purchased in advance for a 25% discount ($135). If payment at usual prices is keeping you from having a session, please discuss this with me, and we'll do our best to find a solution that feels appropriate to both of us.
Fees may be paid with cash, check or credit cards.
I do not bill insurance, but I can provide appropriate codes for you to submit my sessions to your insurance company for possible reimbursement. Policies vary, and I cannot tell you if your insurance will cover my work or not.
